The Wall that Heals is a ¾ scale replica of the actual Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. that honors the 58,318 servicemen, including 8 servicewomen, that sacrificed their lives during the war. The City of Kissimmee was selected to host the traveling memorial wall out of 143 applicants for the 31-city tour. In partnership with several U.S. Veterans Associations, law enforcement and fire agencies, private organizations, and the City of Kissimmee; the weeklong event from March 12 – 16, 2025 was successful due to the cooperative collaboration of volunteers that helped to erect the wall and assist with daily events and ceremonies. Thousands of Veterans and residents from around Florida and other parts of the U.S. came to pay their respects or connect with loved ones that were lost in the war. Kissimmee Airport was proud to have the opportunity to honor all Vietnam Veterans that are still with us, and those that were killed during the war or succumbed to injuries later from physical and/or mental trauma.
